If you have an iPad sooner or later you will want to connect to a Wi-fi network so you can browse the web, play games, watch videos pretty much anything you can do online on a computer and of course because it is an iPad you will be able to download apps as well.
Before the fun begins however you will need to connect to a Wi-fi network and this article will walk you through the steps.
From the iPad home screen or the screen you start on when you switch the iPad on you need to go to Settings. The settings icon looks like machine cogs.
In the settings screen select Network.
Then to start the iPad looking for networks you just slide the Wi-fi button to "On" and you will see all of the available networks populate below.
Depending on where you are and what network you are trying to connect to you will see either public or private networks. For instance in a coffee shop you might see a public network and to connect to this you just need to tap the network. Be aware though that if you connect to a public network you will not be secure.
For a private network which is most likely if you are connecting at home you will need a password. You can normally find this on the back of your router or if all else fails give your ISP a call and ask them.
Assuming you know the password you just need to enter it when prompted and you will be up and running and able to use the web.
Test it out by opening up a browser using Safari and if your homepage loads up you are good to go.
A good idea once you are connected is to check out the app store and you will be able to download thousands of apps for pretty much everything you can think of. Just make sure that you understand whether it is free or paid before you start downloading or you could run up a huge bill without meaning too.
After you have done this you could connect the iPad to your computer and transfer some of your photos or music over to your iPad and then you will be able to have them with you no matter where you go.
There are thousands of things you can do with the iPad online but to start it all off we hope this article has help you connect to a Wi-Fi network.
