The Commodore 64 is one of the best loved retro computers of all time; this is on top of being the best selling home computer in history!
Whether you used your Commodore 64 for programming, office applications, software or for the excellent video games, you are inevitably going to have a bucket load of nostalgia for this amazing home computer.
Top Commodore 64 games
My personal favourite feature of this computer was the amount of top Commodore 64 games that were available. I can remember waiting impatiently for the games to load up on the tape deck which then felt like a life time, the games would keep me occupied for hours on end. This brings me to the biggest question, what were the top Commodore 64 games?
Bubble Bobble
Bubble Bobble has to my most people's favourite Commodore 64 game. The simplicity of this game makes it a real champion. Two dragon creatures blowing bubbles are enemies in order to advance to the next level, genius! The most and playability of this game made it a real hit and even today there are games which are similar to this widely available across a range of different platforms, such as mobile phone games and console games.
Paperboy
Everyone can remember Paperboy; the hardworking early starter has to avoid every obstacle known to man in order to deliver the morning spread. The frustration I used to feel when I would be so close to finishing a level before a ridiculously careless driver would just pull off their driveway and knock me clean to the ground! The addiction of this game is one of the factors which made it a true legend in the early retro video gaming world.
Spy Vs Spy
The Spy Vs Spy trilogy has to be the most comical games to play for the Commodore 64. I can remember playing them with my brother, each one back to back for hours at a time. Anyone who had played any of the series will agree that these are some of the top Commodore 64 games around.
The Commodore 64 is a true classic when it comes to both home computing and video gaming. It does not just have to be a distant memory. Relive your childhood, dust off your Commodore 64 or get another one and soon you will be taking a trip down memory lane with many of the great titles which were, and still are available for this retro gaming computer.
