Tips For Mobile Home Releveling

By Marla Mills

Small cracks on walls, doors or windows can cause more damage to a home if left unchecked. This means that once the homeowner notices such cracks, he or she should always take the appropriate steps towards filling them. In a mobile home, the cracks can often lead to the imbalance of the home or further damages. Therefore, mobile home releveling is the best remedy of ensuring that a house is safe from the resultant causes of non-level homes.

A balanced home provides comfort and is also protected from other related damages that may arise. Being a demanding task, re-leveling involves multiple procedures. The first step involves removing the skirting around the entire house. Once the skirts are removed, the homeowner has easy access to all the piers used for supporting the structure.

It is important to have equal access to the piers for easy manipulation of the I-beam. The homeowner or contractor should locate the center of the structure where he can equally reach the piers, after which a long level is used on each pier to determine their stability. The level has a bubble that is used to check the piers and the I-beam. Imbalanced piers are usually marked out for further fixing.

Usually, a plastic tube is attached to the container with a capacity of about five gallons. The container is then used to hold about 1.9 liters of water used for leveling. A mark is set by ensuring that the tube water is at the same level with the bottom of the home I-beam. This is usually done to ensure that all the piers are balanced.

A jack is then placed at the centre of the building to lift it above the ground. Placing the jack at the centre also supports the weight of the house for further practices. The next procedure involves raising the I-beam to the same level with the water mark of the plastic tube. This helps the contractor in checking the house level using the level bubble. The contractor or homeowner should improvise routine measures of checking the structure balance.

The measures taken also involve routine checking of all areas with problems by jacking the house. Windows and doors should be constantly checked to determine whether all problems have been correctly fixed or any recurrence. Thereafter, a wedge can be used to support the house while removing the jack after use.

Re-leveling requires certain tips that are usually used for the management purposes. It is advisable for the homeowners to avoid constant repairs by properly fixing the existing problems. This ensures that there is no recurrence of the same problems. Essentially, re-leveling reduces extra costs of management as well as restoring the durability of the house.

Mobile home releveling is also a crucial method of avoiding contact between the structure and any underground moisture that may be there. This requires the use of plastic sheet for covering the ground in order to protect the house from moisture. The effects of vaporization can make dampness and rusting of the metallic parts of the house. All these processes are meant to make the place more stable.
